Earth Day 2012
Sunday 22 of April was Earth Day; since 1970 it's been a day set aside to remember and appreciate the Earth's environment. Each year, Earth Day -April 22 - marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement.
A different kind of school
The Romanian Ministry of Education introduced into the curriculum a one week program dedicated to different extracurricular activities. The week named "A different kind of school" was held between 2nd and 6th of April.
One of the themes approached by teachers and students was recycling. In this way children are more aware of their responsibilities and the school tries to create programs in order to reduce waste wherever possible.
Earth Hour 2012
What do we know about Earth Hour?
It was an idea developed by newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald and WWF. For that first ever Earth hour, 2.2 million homes and businesses in the Sydney area switched off their lights for the period of one hour. In one year Earth Hour grew from that one event in one city to a worldwide movement.

The 11th International Electronics Recycling Congress (IERC) 2012 took place in Salzburg, Austria during 18th-20th of January and gathered over 500 experts from recycling industry, authorities and academia who discussed and presented the newest information and challenges of the WEEE recycling business.

Cluj Napoca hosts the Waste Museum
On November 18th we attended to the opening of the new location of Waste Museum, situated in Expo Transilvania Cluj.
The Waste Museum offers a new perspective on the impact that waste have it on our daily lives. Starting from threats and discomfort given by waste, the museum show us how can we make the necessary integration - in time, objects we use will become waste that needs to be recycled.
Six counties involved in selective collection

We started in September, together with CCR Logistics Systems the program "Selective collection of light bulbs, batteries and used cell phones" in collaboration with the schools and the town halls from six counties: Buzau, Bihor, Cluj, Galati, Iasi and Vrancea . This will end in June 2012.
Environment for Europe
During 21 - 23 of September 2011 in Astana, Kazakhstan took place the seventh 'Environment for Europe' Ministerial Conference.
The Ministerial Conference brought together delegates from 53 countries across the pan-European region as well as delegates from the United States, Canada and Israel. The conference focused on the challenges in protecting water and related ecosystems, and on how to move towards a green economy. It was organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in cooperation with the Government of Kazakhstan.
